Cardiovascular Fellowship

Position Description:

The goal of this fellowship is to enable the candidate to develop advanced knowledge in cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, as well as the scientific research process. The fellow will gain experience with clinical and/or animal research through involvement with patient recruitment, coordination, data retrieval and reporting research findings in both written and oral presentation formats. The fellow will independently initiate at least one scientific project from study conception to publication of the results. The candidate will also be given the opportunity to develop clinical and didactic teaching skills. French proficiency is required.

Health Outcomes Management Fellowship

Applicable Position: Two-year Fellowship

Practice or research specialty/focus of the position: Research Fellowship in Health Outcomes Management

Position Description:
This two-year fellowship position will provide an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to acquire knowledge and skills in health outcomes research. The goals of this fellowship are to educate and train the fellow in the areas of health outcomes management, pharmacoeconomics and health outcomes research, to provide relevant theory and experience in the application of these principles, and to expand their role in the decision making process of the optimal allocation of the limited resources of the health care system. The fellow will be involved in various aspects of research projects, including grant writing, literature reviews, methods design, data analysis, study coordination, and writing completed research projects for peer-reviewed medical journals.  Opportunities for teaching and presentation of research findings also exist. The February 10, 2003 issue of The Scientist ranked Dalhousie University as the #1 non-US university in the world to do a post-doc fellowship. Overall, Dalhousie ranked #4.

Required or desired credentials or experience of applicants:
Completion of a Pharm.D., or a Ph.D. or Masters degree in a field such as community health and epidemiology, health services administration, health policy, or a health professional program (pharmacy, nursing, etc.). Excellent skills in critical appraisal of literature, planning and performing quantitative data analysis, scientific writing, and verbal communication are essential.

Pharmacometrics and Drug Development Fellowship

Applicable Position Description: Fellowship

Practice or research specialty/focus of the position: Pharmacometrics and Drug Development, Pharmacokinetics, Drug Metabolism.

Position Description: This Fellowship will prepare the individual in becoming an independent researcher that will understand the drug development process from pre-clinical to Phase IV. The post-doctoral fellow will be initiated to all components of clinical research including study design, protocols, conduct, data analysis, pharmacostatistical model build-up, report and manuscript writing as well as presentation at national and international meetings. The fellow may also participate in didactic teaching of graduate students at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Montreal.
